Enjoy the adventure of rafting on boats of up to eight people with guide down the canyons of the American River. Big whitewater awaits! One night of camping which includes a cook! How would you like your tri-tip? Just bring your tent, sleeping bag and essentials and drive to your campsite. The staff at the rafting place prepares ALL meals. No KP duty! We raft both days, the staff brings food on the river tour and we stop along the way for lunch/snacks. Showers and flushing toilets (at the campsite) are an added bonus.
We leave early Saturday morning and return around dinnertime Sunday.

Note: SCOUTS MUST BE 13 YEARS OR OLDER BY TRIP DATE. Join the troop for ten days of canoe camping in the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness and Quetico Provincial Park. Located in Northern Minnesota and Ontario, the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness is over one million acres in size, and contains hundreds of lakes and rivers, has 1200 miles of canoe routes and is home to abundant plants and wildlife. All participants must pass the BSA swim, Safe Swim and Safety Afloat tests, and scouts must earn the canoeing merit badge. There will be additional training specific to this trip, as well as participation in skill-building and conditioning warm-up trips. In addition to traditional backpacking gear you may need to purchase a very light weight synthetic sleeping bag (+35 degree), a water-proof compression sack and anappropriate pair of non-waterproof boots. Due to the remoteness of the route each crew will carry a satellite phone as required equipment on this trip. THE TRIP IS FULL, BUT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED YOU CAN PUT YOUR NAME ON THE WAITING LIST AND IF A SPOT BECOMES AVAILABLE YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED. |

Bobbie Foster will teach a two day, 16 hour course on first aid in a wilderness setting. Bobbie is an excellent instructor, and this training is strongly recommended for adults leading wilderness trips. You will receive 3 year certification from nationally recognized ASHI, which meets Philmont's requirements for first aid training. Older scouts (15+) may also attend. The course will be held in the Oak School multi-purpose room. For more information visit Bobbie's website, www.fostercalm.com. You must sign up and pay by February 28, as Bobbie will be sending out pre-class materials to those who are registered and paid.
